Features to know about

Add Everyday Towing Capability: Class III 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver

Whether you’re hauling a small trailer or carrying bikes, this hitch is built to handle everyday tasks. It’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs. The 2" x 2" receiver opening matches the most common hitch accessories, so you can easily swap between a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier without adapters. It’s a solid option for light to moderate towing or adding extra gear for the weekend.

Make Installation Straightforward: Bolt-On Design with Included Hardware

You don’t need a lift or welding gear to get this hitch installed. The fully welded design bolts directly onto the frame using the included hardware kit and installation instructions—no welding required. Robotic welding ensures the fit is precise and consistent, so it lines up with factory mounting points. It’s designed with do-it-yourselfers in mind, making it possible to install with basic tools in your own driveway.

Count on Strength and Durability: Powder-Coated Steel Construction

Built from sturdy, square-tube steel and finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base layer, this hitch is made to last. The dual-layer finish helps resist rust and corrosion from road spray and weather exposure. This durability means you can trust it for repeated use towing small campers, boats, or utility trailers without worrying about long-term wear.

Keep It Clean and Functional: Concealed Cross Tube Design

The concealed cross tube keeps most of the hitch tucked out of sight so only the receiver is visible beneath the bumper. That gives your vehicle a cleaner, factory-style look while still providing full towing capability. The streamlined design also helps maintain good ground clearance—about 8-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the hitch based on measured data—so you can clear driveways and inclines without dragging gear behind you.

It does the job

by:

So far, so good! I had it installed by a mechanic for $100. With the RockyMount bike trailer I bought, it works great. Given that the mounted hitch sits several inches under the car from the bumper (Chevy Equinox EV), the bike trailer, when folded up, comes flush against the car. In fact, we needed to use a file to shave off an 1/4 inch of the tire tray so it could fold up and not gouge the car. I hated to do that to our new bike trailer but it’s no worse for the wear.

by:

The hitch looks well-built and quality. I just think they need to look at the hole spacing on the hitch. I installed it on my 2025 Equinox EV. It just did not fit without modification to the hole spacing. I had to grind the holes bigger to make it fit and not just a little but a lot. It looks that multiple people are having this problem with installation. I wish I would have gone with the OEM hitch. At no fault of Curt, this also sits quite low and far underneath the car and does not allow my bike One-Up rack to fold up all the way.

Appreciate your insight Aaron! Sounds like a solid hitch, but that mounting issue on the 2025 Equinox EV is definitely something future buyers should know about. I'll see what I can do to pass this information onto Curt.

by:

Amazing experience with this company.

by:

Excellent addition to my Equinox EV. I strongly suggest getting a raised hitch addition of 4 to 6 inches as the receiver is very low and you will run into clearance issues.

by:

Very simple install on 2025 Equinox EV. No need to raise car. No issues with fit.

by:

The installation went pretty straightforward on the 2025 Equinox EV. Two things to note: 1) The directions showed enlarging of the most forward holes in the frame rails to run the bolts/fish wires up thru, when actually they need to be placed thru the center of the 3 holes, and 2) the hitch tucks very far in under the bumper section of the vehicle, which will likely necessitate an extension for many accessories. It would be nice if the receiver tube projected 4-6 inches further out.

by:

The product is well made and installed easily however, the instructions were not very good and the pictures did not match up to the underside of my Equinox EV. I do think the Hitch receiver could have come out a couple of more inches so that I don't need an extension for my bicycle rack.

by:

Easy to install and very sturdy.
A bit
heavy though

by:

2025 Honda Prologue. Customer service was great and helpful. Hitch fits well. I would strongly suggest updating the installation instructions. The measurements you have in the picture to cut out part of the plastic under cover are way off. I cut much more than necessary and a large portion of the undercarriage is now completely exposed. Also, use clearer pictures and a little more text would go a long way.

by:

It did not fit. I had to grind out the bolt slots with a die grinder to make it fit.

by:

Great price, easy to follow instructions and video tutorial was a must watch, prefect fit, highly quality product, and works great. Highly recommended.

by:

The install was fairly easy due to the youtube video you folks put out. The only issue I had was the bolt holes seemed to be about 1/2 inch to close together so I had to force the bolts into position. My instructions also called for about 7 inch cut into the plastic under cover and I think it should have been more like 4 inches. I measured it before cutting so it was fine but I think the written instructions were a bit off.

by:

Hitch holes did not line up with bolts in body sheet metal. Needed to “adjust” mounting flanges to fit.

by:

Quite stout and well made/finished. The fit was good but not perfect. It is about a 1/4 too wide,so the slotted mounting holes don't line up properly with the corresponding holes in the Equinox EV frame. By leaving the nuts on one side VERY loose, I was just able to get the bolts on the other side into the slots on that side, but that meant that all 4 bolts were at an angle, pressed against the inner side of each slot, pointing at about 25 degrees away from the center of the car. I was able to tighten all of them, but they were under some side load.

Great. No issues.

by:

The C89RV Hitch receiver fit perfectly on my 2026 Equinox EV.

by:

Product install wasn't too bad, but I agree with the Moderate rating on the instructions.

A couple notes from my experience installing on the 2024 Equinox EV:

-Removing the underbody panel required removal of 16 7mm hex heads. There were no T15 screws or push pins involved.
-The depth of the trim slots is shown as 7.5" on the reference diagram. This was a bit excessive as you can see from the picture.
-There is no way to get two of the 7mm hex heads back in because the holes are completely covered by the hitch.

All told, not a bad install.

I appreciate the photos and the honest report on the install, Andrew! Thank you! Happy to hear the overall consensus is it's good :) What will you be using your new hitch with?

by:

This hitch was welded up completely out of square and cannot possibly be installed as it is. Don't you use a jig to fabricate the plates and cross bar? Please let me know how to return this and get a replacement.

by:

Bought this for a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV. Have not used it yet but have had it installed. Took the shop about an hour to do and they said it was not difficult.
As I've not yet used it I can speak to its quality but it does seem a solid hitch. etrailer was very good in getting it to me. I hope they are as good if anything goes wrong.

by:

The mounting holes on the hitch need to be larger. The guide wires on the bolts will not go thru the hitch holes. The guide wires needed to be removed before the bolts would thru. Also it would be very helpful if the slot holes were wider. The bolts were exactly on the inside of both slots.

by:

Installation was straightforward. The supplied fish wire / bolt holder was brilliant and worked like a charm. The cutout in the underbody trim panel can be made much smaller than the installation instructions called for. Two small slots are sufficient. Measure it yourself and don’t use the much larger cutout that the installation instructions specifies.

by:

Install took two hours. Just a bit…tricky. This receiver hitch is for very light duty as it is specifically for a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV. I left out the EV designation when I placed my order. Caught my mistake about six hours later and called the after hours number. Since the first order had already shipped, I just ordered the proper replacement with instructions on how to return the first one. BOTH hitches arrived two days later. Easily one of the best companies I’ve ever dealt with.

by:

Does not fit 2025 Prologue EX. The holes in the car floor are at least 1.5” off in the outboard direction. See photos. Maybe I got a bad one, or it was incorrectly labeled. It’s too sturdy for the brackets to be bent. My guess is the model changed slightly from ‘24 to ‘25 and this wasn’t re-tested.

I was committed and need it, so I drilled new holes which was a giant pain. 4 hour install and I still need to trim the rear air dam/wind deflector plastic to fit.

Lastly, I’ve never seen more poorly printed instructions. The text was fine, but the photos are so dark you can’t see anything. Disappointed in Curt this time.

It sounds like you may have gotten a warped or bent hitch and that is why the holes were not lined up. We will reach out to you shortly and help get this resolved.

by:

As always, etrailer website, videos, service, communication and price was superb!
The hitch fit well.
Due to the bulbous design of the back end of the equinox ev, an extension piece may be required so that bike handle bars clear when in a bike rack.

by:

Outstanding service and incredibly fast shipping! My Curt trailer hitch arrived much quicker than I expected and was packaged securely. Dayzha provided excellent customer service and kept me informed throughout the process, she was absolutely awesome! This was a smooth, professional experience from start to finish. I highly recommend etrailer and will definitely shop with them again.
I’m going to have it installed on Tuesday, I’ll send pics then??

  • Do I Need to Trim to Install a Hitch on a 2024/2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?
Hey Kevin! The Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT66KV is going to sit higher than the Curt Hitch item # C89RV when it is installed on the 2024/2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV. The crosstube mounts behind the rear bumper instead of to the bottom of the frame so the receiver is going to stick out just below the trim. There will need to be some trimming done to get the receiver of the Draw Tite item # DT66KV to stick through the fascia. I have attached a screen shot from the installation instructions below...

  • Will Hitch for 2024 Chevy Blazer EV Fit 2024 Honda Prologue
Hi John; even though they use the same frame there is some kind of difference between the two that won't allow the # C63ZV to fit the 2024 Prologue. Curt is working on a hitch for the Prologue which is the # C89RV. We have it up for pre-order but it is not yet available. I guarantee if the Blazer EV hitch fit the Prologue Curt would not be designing a different hitch specifically for the Prologue.

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # C89RV Fit a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV?
Hello Dustin. I looked at the answer that you are referring to. The manufacturers have not been able to test fit at this time, so they do not have it listed. However, here at etrailer.com we have an entire team dedicated to our fit guide which is why we are able to confirm the fitment a little quicker than they can. Our fit guide team has been able to confirm that from 2024 to 2025 the frame of the vehicle has not changed, so the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"...

Hi Lewis! When we installed the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # EH75KR on a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, it sat 13.5" when measured from the ground to the inside top of the receiver and 4.5" from the edge of the bumper to the middle of the pin hole. We haven't had the chance to install the Curt # C89RV on a Lyriq yet, but when we installed it on a 2025 Equinox EV (which is on the same platform), we found it 11" and 8" from the edge of the bumper to the middle of the...

  • What is Difference Between Curt Hitches that Fit 2024 Cadillac Lyriq
Hey Mike, this is a really great question but if I were you I would just go with whichever has the best current price as they are virtually identical in terms of practical use and install. The difference is they're two different CURT hitch designs (13599 vs. 13617) that both now fit the Lyriq, with identical ratings and very similar construction. C62ZV is the Lyriq-specific older design; C89RV is the newer multi-application GM EV-platform design. So basically they found a way to modify...

  • Will the Curt Hitch C89RV Block the Liftgate Sensor on a 2024 Honda Prologue?
No, it does not Josh. We have had no issues with the Curt Hitch item # C89RV blocking the lift gate sensor when installed on a 2024 Honda Prologue. What typically happens if the sensor does get blocked it would only around the 2" receiver so you would have to kick to the left and right of it. You don't want to be kicking right around the 2" receiver anyways. I have linked the installation instructions below. What are you needing a hitch for?

Hey Geroge, We actually do have a hitch fit for your 2026 Chevy Equinox EV! Right now, the only one that fits is the Curt Class III # C89RV, but even at that it's still a great hitch receiver that can resist the elements and remain strong for a long time to come. For a bike rack, I really like the Kuat NV 2.0 Base # BA22B because it has a durable yet sleek matte black finish, and it's much easier to use than a lot of other similar bike racks. Hi Ed; I can't say if the # C89RV will hang down below the battery box or not. The one measurement we have is the distance from the ground to the top inside of the receiver which is 11". Accounting for the 2" opening and then the collar around the receiver the bottom of the hitch will sit approximately 8-1/2" off the ground. You can compare that measurement to the battery box to see if it hangs lower. Clearance probably isn't a major concern unless you have a bike rack without built-in...

  • Is Fascia Trimming Needed to Install Curt Trailer Hitch On 2024 Chevy Equinox EV
Hey Brent, That's a really good question, and while there is some trimming needed on your 2024 Chevy Equinox EV, bumper/fascia trimming is not required when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C89RV. What you'll have to trim is some of the underbody panel on the Equinox, and I have added a cutout below of the instructions for the # C89RV which show the amount.
